Halloween Birthday Party Ideas

Some of us have birthday dates that are a bit too close to big holidays, and we are stuck sharing our thunder every year with a big bunny or cut up paper hearts.  There are a few lucky ones who happen to have a birthday close to their very favorite holiday which becomes almost a part of their identity.  I know there are a few little tots out there who not only live for Halloween, but were fortunate enough to be born in this absolutely beautiful month of October.  We salute these bewitched babies!

Does your little darling need to summon her inner Evil Fairy Queen?  We have a new party package for that, starring these two!

The Evil Fairy and Sleeping Princess will spook and charm your guests!  We will set aside time for photos to capture the magic moment and we will have a spooky charm for the birthday child!  We will bring supplies for a magic potion spell bottle.  Next, we fill the bottle with bobbles, sparkles, and water.  When the bottle is shaken the sparkles will swirl around.  As the dust in the bottle settles to the bottom it will have a calming effect on even the most vexed fairy.  Some call these magic spells, "time out bottles".  While we are waiting for the cap glue to dry, the characters will tell the children an interactive story.  Abra Kadabra, you've hosted a fun and memorable party for your little spooky fairy without even lifting your wand.
Find more information about our fall Villain and Princess Party Package at:  ww.RealPrincessesOmaha.com

Looking for a bubbly character?  We have a Vampire Fashion Doll in the castle this time of year as well.  She's more into fashion than hexes and wouldn't go near an ounce of blood.  She's a vegetarian so the only thing she will be draining is a glass of tomato juice.  This character can be invited to any of our party packages!  You can also add neon colored hair extensions to any package.

Not having a birthday party in October??  We offer rates for neighborhood "trunk or treat" events as well as small business promotions around town.  For contact information visit our website!

The Jedi and The Fairy Princess

There is a story about a princess who wants, more than anything else, to have the moon.  The King invites astronomers, physicists, and engineers to the palace to figure out how to capture the moon.  They use graphs and charts to explain to the king that his daughter’s request is impossible.  Then the King’s old friend, the Court Jester, steps in with the solution.  He asks the princess how she believes they could capture the moon.  She explains that you could just climb up into a tree to grab it and that it is only as big as her thumbnail and made of gold.  So the King make a little gold moon gives it to the princess and she’s cured, but wait, not so fast!  The King realizes his plan will be foiled as soon as the moon rises the next evening.  Again he turns to his great thinkers who suggest blindfolding the princess and other impractical sort of plans.  Again the Jester asks the princess why the moon would rise even after she possessed it.  She explained that after she looses a baby tooth it grows back and a flower when picked grows back so then the moon will also grow back.  It’s so brilliant.

Captain Cora leads a game with princesses and jedi

I was recently thinking about this fable.  Sometimes, when you’re planning a party you can run into snags.  For example, maybe you are throwing a princess dress up party for your little girl’s birthday but she has friends who are boys and girls.  As an adult we might wonder, will the boys feel left out?  Will they have fun?  Let the boys and girls dress up however they like.  I adored this party because a couple of boys were knights, which is very fitting at a princess party.  Even though they were Jedi Knights!  In the imaginary world of children, Jedi and Ninjas play Simon says with fairy princesses.  It’s a beautiful thing.

Fairy Tea Party June 1st

I’m so excited about Tinker Bell’s birthday party June 1st 2013!  Beauty and Cinderella have planned so many fun activities.  We wanted the Fairy Princess Tea Party to have a garden theme to remind Tink of her home in the magical woods.  The girls have come up with a very special take home craft idea.

A Magical Time at PTO Carnival

The princesses had a lovely time at the PTO carnival.  One of my favorite moments was when a little girl was visiting with Cinderella and she was so excited to tell her, "I dress up like you all the time."  Another little girl saw Beauty and she reached out to her.  Princess Beauty knelt down to give her a hug and then the little girl whispered in her ear, "I've been waiting to meet you my whole life!"  I have to say that Beauty's eyes became a little foggy.  It was so wonderful to meet all the little prince and princesses of Conestoga Elementary School.  Thanks again for inviting us!

Storybook Princess Theme Birthday Party Ideas

For younger children small parties are best.  Keep the guest list to eight of her closest friends.  It's difficult not to invite the entire class because we don't want to hurt any feelings or let anyone feel left out but trying to accommodate an entire class of girls at a party can be overwhelming and stressful.  Make sure she brings a treat to all her classmates at school the day of her birthday but keep the weekend party to a manageable size.

This party took place in the meeting room of a retirement village.  There was plenty of space and a full kitchen.

If you are nervous about, guest parking, moving furniture, or hiding your grandmother's fragile vase in an upstairs closet you may consider renting a room.  Rented rooms often come with a table and may have a sink and refrigerator.  You can usually come in ahead of time to do a little decorating.  You would be surprised how many local businesses have back rooms to rent.  In papillion, Tripoint coffee on the main street has a lovely meeting room that can accommodate 30 people and is freshly remodeled and rents by the hour at a very reasonable rate.  Sometimes banks and other businesses have meeting rooms they will rent.  Perhaps your workplace rents out an entertaining space to employees.  Another option is a hospitality room at a hotel.  These are small party rooms with kitchens and can be rented  by the hour.

Decorating is a snap when you choose a theme for your party.  We are using a story book theme.  Buntings are really  popular right now but instead of bothering with sewing you can use pieces of scrapbook paper cut into triangles.  I found this design on Adventuroo and you can get the instructions here.

A great craft activity for the children would be to to  create a tiny story book using pieces of scrapbook paper.  I found a great little book shaped like a matchbook on Cut Out & Keep.  You can see how it is done here.

It's nice to keep food bite sized.  Try to choose recipes that can be done ahead of time and kept in the refrigerator.  We set all the food out at the start but you can also bring out snack items one at a time throughout the party.  If you are worried about stains stay away from red drinks and dark chocolate cakes.  If the girls are dressed up then their mothers will appreciate it.

When you are preparing food, prepare something special for the parents on the sidelines.  It's nice when parents come in and  stay during the party.  Children tend to be less stressed and more behaved when their mom or dad is right in the other room.  Treat parents who stay to chips and dip or sandwiches.  If you keep them happy, maybe they will help you tidy up afterward.

Princess Party Omaha
The perfect touch to a story book themed birthday party is to invite a real life story book character.  Check to see if you can hire a storybook princess in your area.  Real Princesses Omaha serves the Omaha metro area and specializes in birthday parties.  They will bring two princesses to your party to play games and craft with the children.  There is also a royal assistant who will be your helper and will set up and clean up all the activities.

Easter in Papillion, Nebraska

Easter egg hunt at Halleck Park in Papillion

Can you believe that a week before this picture was taken there was snow on the ground?  Luckily the weather warmed up and Papillion was able to hold it's Easter egg hunt.  I can't tell you how much fun it was to surprise all the kids.  When Beauty and Tinker Bell came over that hill one by one their little faces lit up.
